Code is one of several languages I think in.

A lot of the most interesting engineering happens at the intersection of disciplines. Astronomy taught me to design systems that respect time and physical constraints. 3D printing and laser engraving keep me close to the messy reality of materials, tolerances, and supply chains. Electronics make sure software stays honest about the world it's pretending to model.

When I'm not shipping enterprise platforms, you'll find me chasing photons through a SkyWatcher MAK 127, designing parametric mechanisms in OpenSCAD, or running an MOPA fiber laser at five different wavelengths.
